Below is a copy of what I said. If I have missed anyone please accept my sincere apologies.
This is a very happy day for local democracy and we should extend thanks for two reasons.
First to the candidates who stood for election: my congratulations for having the guts to stand, and to those who won, my congratulations on your success. Without people willing to serve there would be no local government.
Second, the derelict Magruder building is gone! And that too is a wonderful example of local democracy in action.
Citizens called for action and the City listened, and in that regard I must apologize to both Councilor Foat and Councilor Lewin as, when I last stood here, I claimed they were doing nothing. I was wrong to have said that and for that i apologize.
In fact our thanks are owed to:
Councilors Foat, Lewin, Mills, and Hutcheson and to Mayor Steve Pougnet.
Our thanks also go to all the other people we have spoken with, and who have listened to us, including:
To all of you, on behalf of all the residents affected by the blight caused by the derelict Magruder building, our heartfelt thanks.
