Friday, January 23 – Christopher Kennedy, Inc., Traditional Home magazine, and California Homes magazine celebrate architecture and the Coachella Valley’s re-emergence as an international design stage by assembling top interior designers for The Christopher Kennedy Compound: Modernism Week Show House 2015, to be held February 14-22.
The Show House in Palm Springs’s prestigious Indian Canyons neighborhood will be staged in conjunction with Modernism Week, which attracts more than 45,000 visitors from 20 different countries to the Palm Springs area every year. Participating designers include Michael Berman, Trip Haenisch, Mark Cutler, Grace Home, Parker Kennedy, Nancy Price, Vanessa De Vargas, Marlaina Teich, Tabitha Evans, Paletteur, Linda Allen, and Bobby Berk.
“My goal with The Christopher Kennedy Compound is to celebrate Palm Springs architecture at its heyday,” Christopher Kennedy says, “while updating a swanky vintage house for the realities of modern living, using the best of today's technology.”
“Traditional Home is thrilled to partner with Christopher Kennedy and all the talented designers he has assembled to transform this amazing property," says Ann Maine, editor in chief of Traditional Home. "Some of today's most exciting ideas are inspired by the past, and reinvented in fresh new ways to match the way we live today. What better source of inspiration than the midcentury-modern architecture and design that Palm Springs is known for, and is embodied in this year's Modernism Week Show House."
In addition to the designers, the following brand partners are providing their products and services for the Show House: Architectural Blue, Art House Design Build, Bedrosians, Benjamin Moore, Brown Jordan, Cosentino, Crestron, Dornbracht, Duravit, Ferguson, Fromberg Edelstein Fromberg, Hartmann&Forbes, Kravet, LaCantina Doors, Landscape Illuminators, Phillip Jeffries, The Robert Allen Group, The Container Store, Sensorium Event Productions, Son Cabinetry & Design, and Sub-Zero Wolf. The goal is to raise $100,000 for Palm Springs Modernism and other preservation efforts.
“Though I am a modernist when it comes to design, I am also decidedly old-school,” Kennedy says. “I yearn for the days when families sat down to dinner together, when people would talk instead of text, when kids could stay out riding their bikes until sundown. While many advances have been made in recent years, our society has become increasingly fractured. I believe that we have a collective yearning for a simpler, more gracious time. And so I am incredibly excited to partner with Traditional Home magazine for The Christopher Kennedy Compound: Modernism Week Show House 2015.”
