"According to public court records, Orlop had been arrested for minor crimes such as trespassing and drug possession for almost 20 years.
In January 2011, he was arrested for felony vandalism. Three months later he was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon when he was accused of punching a person at a Palm Springs gas station and threatening to kill them with a hunting knife.
Two months after that arrest, he was declared mentally incompetent and committed to the Patton State Hospital in San Bernardino. He was released and recommitted in March 2012. Eight months later, he was re-arrested for drug possession and committed to the hospital once more.
In September 2013, Orlop was deemed mentally competent and sentenced to 16 months in prison for his various crimes in a plea deal.
He was released from prison earlier this year."
