We were initially seated in a cavernous space the owners have done little to soften. As a result this large dining room is cacophonous. There's a smaller carpeted dining area which I and friends asked to be moved too which was better. On leaving we noticed an empty sport-bar area with a row of banquet seats facing a wall of TVs, completely empty despite the rest of the restaurant being busy.
The food was OK but my friends and I agreed that we won't be back after that trial. For us, and very sadly, the place has lost the intimacy and charm it had had as a local, fine-dining restaurant. Perhaps those are qualities the owners didn't intend the new Bernies to have as it seems now to be a trying to be a variety of different things, but for us the atmosphere and the food were what made it a delight and that's now gone.
