The four members of the Council present, (Mayor Pougnet was not present due to a minor family emergency), voted unanimously to proceed with getting quotes from three contractors for demolition.
This was, quite frankly, the best possible outcome we could have hoped for and, although it is far from the end of the road, there is reason to celebrate:
- We have got the issue on the agenda of the City Council.
- The City Manager and the Council members are listening and are sympathetic to the problem.
- The Council members were unanimous in their decision.
Everyone who has supported us this far should be smiling.
That's not to say that demolition is a certainty yet as it's not. There's a process to be gone through, but this is probably the simplest, quickest and, so long as the costs don't get out of control, the likeliest to succeed.
